WOOSTER, Ohio - The College of Wooster Jazz Ensemble, 12 O’Clock Jazz Combo, and 8 0’Clock Jazz Combo will perform Friday, Oct. 18, 7:30 at McGaw Chapel, 340 E. University Street, on the campus of The College of Wooster.
Under the direction of Jeffrey Lindberg, conductor and professor of music, the concert features saxophonist Dave Sterner, director of the Lakeland Civic Jazz Orchestra and a faculty member of the Cuyahoga Community College jazz program. Sterner has performed locally with Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Wayne Newton, and the Dizzy Gillespie All-star Big Band.
Sterner’s composition “Where Y’At,” will be performed Friday. The program also includes works by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, Mike Stoller and Jerry Leiber, Cole Porter, and Alan Lerner and Frederick Loewe.
Tickets are $5 and are available at The Wooster Book Company, Buehler’s (Milltown and Towne Market), the Lowry Center Wilson Bookstore on campus, and at the door of the concert. C.O.W. students, faculty, staff and retirees may obtain complimentary tickets at the Lowry Center Desk. Tickets can also be ordered from the Scheide Music Center Office, 330-263-2419.
