IN CONTEXT: The Wooster Mummy

Did you know that the sarcophagus of the Wooster mummy is the oldest container in the museum’s collection that is still doing its job?

Forget the lore, come learn the real history and what Ta-irty-bai continues to teach us. Dr. Marianne Wardle will be joined by Prof. Monica Florence (History) and Prof. Bhakti Mamtora (Religion) to learn what we know about the mummy’s life and history, how it can help us think about life and afterlife, and the ethical care and keeping of human remains in museum collections.

Mummy will be on view in the Gallery prior to the lecture which will take place in Lean Lecture in Wishart.
