Author David James Poissant to Speak at The College of Wooster on Feb. 18
Free public event to be held in Kauke Hall, Room 305
WOOSTER, Ohio — David James Poissant, award-winning author and assistant professor of English at the University of Central Florida, will give a reading of his works on Thursday, Feb. 18 at The College of Wooster. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 4 p.m. in Room 305 of Kauke Hall (400 E. University St.).
Poissant is the author of The Heaven of Animals, which has won many awards including the 2015 GLCA New Writers Award. The GLCA judges describe his voice as “clear, honest and vulnerable. The characters pause and wonder on their own behavior.” His stories and essays have appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The Chicago Tribune, Glimmer Train, The New York Times, One Story, Playboy, Ploughshares, The Southern Review, and in several anthologies, including New Stories from the South and Best New American Voices. He received his B.A from Berry College, M.F.A. from the University of Arizona, and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati.
