Wooster Faculty and Guest Recital Set for This Coming Sunday

Ioana Galu and Penny Thompson Kruse to join music faculty in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center

WOOSTER – Three College of Wooster music faculty will present a concert along with violinists Ioana Galu and Penny Thompson Kruse, in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.) on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m. The three faculty members are Carrie Culver (soprano), and Christina Matthews and Peter Mowrey both on piano.

This eclectic program features music by Amy Beach, Jean-Marie Leclair, Moritz Moszkowski, Camille Saint-Saëns, Robert Schumann, and Donald Waxman. In addition, Ioana and Mowrey will perform the Wooster premiere of a piece Mowrey wrote for her earlier this year, based upon five of her own poems.

Galu, assistant professor of violin at the University of South Dakota, has enjoyed a national and international career in both Europe and the United States. She taught at Wooster from 2014-16.

Kruse, professor of violin at the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University, has performed extensively as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician.
