Visiting Assistant Professor of PSCI-International Relations - Two year

Political Science

Job Description

The Department of Political Science at The College of Wooster seeks to fill a two-year visiting position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning in the fall of 2013. We are looking for a broadly trained specialist in International Relations to teach introductory and advanced courses in the Department of Political Science and the interdisciplinary International Relations Program, and to supervise independent research projects as part of the College’s Independent Study requirement. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to teach Introduction to International Relations, Theories of International Relations, and a junior-level course Research Methods and Design, along with upper level International Relations courses in their area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to supervise independent research projects in the second field of Comparative Politics.

We prefer candidates who will have completed the Ph.D. in Political Science by the time of appointment and who have had previous independent teaching experience. Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, evidence of effective teaching (including syllabi and student evaluations), graduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation electronically. Applications received by January 28, 2013 will receive full consideration. Applications will only be considered from persons with current legal authorization to work in the United States. Note that the Department of Political Science is simultaneously advertising for a one-year visiting position at the level of Assistant Professor for an International Relations specialist in International Political Economy, so applicants should be sure to carefully identify the position to which they are applying. Eligible applicants are welcome to apply to both positions. To be fully considered for both openings, applicants must submit a complete electronic application, including a distinct letter of application, for each position.
