Job Description
The College of Wooster, a national liberal arts institution in northeastern Ohio, seeks an Assistant Director of Admissions.
We are searching for a candidate who can boldly articulate the nature and aims of a traditional liberal arts college and the attributes that distinguish Wooster as America’s premier college for mentored undergraduate research.
Responsibilities incorporate the full range of admission duties including:
- Territory and prospect management including research, analysis and assessment of established goals, eight to ten weeks of national travel annually, timely and thoughtful assessment of applications, and effective face-to-face, phone, written and digital correspondence with all constituents including prospective students, families and counselors
- Conduct interviews and participate in recruitment events regularly, including weekends and evenings as assigned
- Coordinate major projects or programs which may include but are not limited to: on- and off-campus events, student ambassador programming/supervision, and support of multimedia marketing efforts.
Qualifications of the successful candidate include:
- A thorough understanding and appreciation for the selective, residential liberal arts experience and the value of inclusive diversity
- Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional communication and public speaking abilities
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Highly self-motivated, innovative, creative and analytical
- A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably from a liberal arts institution and a valid driver’s license
- A minimum of 1-3 years of related professional experience
- Although not required, the ideal candidate will have experience and interest in: supervising student ambassadors, extensive event planning, creative writing, and/or Spanish language proficiency
