Welcome to Wooster

Welcome to The College of Wooster. You are joining one of the nation’s best liberal arts colleges, a school nationally recognized for an innovative curriculum that emphasizes independent learning. There are a number of things that you will need to take care of before you can begin working.

If your new job requires you to have any campus keys, confirm that your department head has authorized the Service Center to issue them to you. An email account will be created when Human Resources receives the appropriate hiring paperwork.

You will be given your copy of the Staff Handbook containing information on college benefits, policies, and procedures. If you wish, you may make an appointment with a member of the HR staff to review any of this material. You should also arrange to meet with a benefits administrator to review your college benefits in more detail and to complete the necessary forms for our medical plan and pension plan (TIAA-CREF), the Flexible Spending Account program, accident insurance, etc.

Once your employment paperwork is complete, you will be directed to Safety and Security, also on Wayne Avenue just east of the HR office, to obtain an ID card and a parking permit. (Take the ID form issued by HR have the make, model and license number of the vehicles you wish to register for a permit.)

Finally, if your supervisor or department head has authorized campus keys, you can proceed to the Service Center at 580 East Wayne Avenue to pick them up.

A few of the nice things about working at The College of Wooster:

  • The Scot Center is to open to staff, spouses, and dependent children (some age restrictions apply), free of charge.
  • All college-sponsored concerts, music, and theatre performances, athletic events, lectures and other events are also open to staff and their families free of charge (College ID required) or at a nominal cost in some cases.
  • Employee Assistance Program through the Source One Group.
