The Underground
Job Description
Play music for entertainment of the Underground patrons. The DJ also serves as the lighting and sound system technician on the UG staff.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities (may include the following, but will not be limited to):
- Prepares the facility for opening and closing, includes set-up and breakdown, arranging furniture and spot cleaning.
- Plays music during the Underground happy hours, dance parties, karaoke/bingo events, and other special events.
- Serves as the MC for Bingo and Karaoke along with the Programs Manager.
- Plays music according to the requests and special arrangements for events and private parties booked at the Underground.
- Plays music that is what patrons want to hear and helps draw patrons to the events.
- Serves as the main voice for the UG staff when announcements need to be made to patrons.
- Stays up to date on music trends yet has a diverse sampling of music (i.e. music from different genres or decades).
- Serves as the UG sound and tech person.
- Responsible for setting up technology, lighting, and sound system for various events at the UG (films, comedians, karaoke, etc).
- Keeps Student Managers and Program Coordinator informed of any mechanical difficulties with sound and lighting equipment.
