Q. Will I have help selecting classes?

Answer: Your academic adviser will help you to choose courses that introduce you to the liberal arts, develop your interests, and prepare you for a major.

Q. Is it difficult to get the classes I want?

Answer: When students experience difficulty acquiring their first choices in course selection, it generally occurs during the first few semesters. Some courses are in higher demand than others and course limits sometimes result in students being closed out at registration time. Losing a first-choice course will not affect graduation plans, and academic advisers and course instructors will assist students in acquiring suitable alternate courses.

Q. When are classes held?

Answer: The normal times at which courses are offered are:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8:00 to 8:50 a.m., 9:00 to 9:50 a.m., 10:00 to 10:50 a.m., 11:00 to 11:50 a.m., 12:00 to 12:50 p.m., 1:00 to 1:50 p.m., 2:00 to 2:50 p.m., 3:00 to 3:50 p.m.

Monday and Wednesday, 2:00 to 3:20 p.m.

Tuesday and Thursday: 8 a.m. to 9:20 a.m., 9:30 to 10:50 a.m., 1:00 to 2:20 p.m., 2:30 to 3:50 p.m. A smaller number of courses meet four or five times a week at times which combine the slots above. Laboratory sections are traditionally held in the afternoons from 1:00 to 3:50 p.m. A few language and mathematics courses meet four times a week while some classes are scheduled in the evenings.

Q. Will I get credit for AP courses?

Answer: Students who earn a score of four or five receive credit. For information on AP credit, you should review the Advanced Placement section of the College’s Catalogue. If you have other questions, you will need to contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@wooster.edu.

Q. When do I get an academic adviser?

Answer: In May you will receive a letter from the Dean of the Faculty in which you will be asked to make selections from a list of available First-Year Seminar topics. Using that information, the Dean of the Faculty will assign you an academic adviser who will also be your First-Year Seminar professor. You will receive notification of your First-Year Seminar and your academic adviser in early August.
