Name: Lauren Merriman
Hometown: East Aurora, NY
Class Year: 2009
Major/Minor: Religious Studies Major and History/Cultural Area Studies Minor
Extracurricular Activities: I am on the Wooster Volunteer Network Executive Board, serving as the Outreach Coordinator and Alternate Spring Break Coordinator; Volunteer at Every Women’s House and The Humane Society; Varsity Field Hockey, Wooster Outdoors Club; IM sports; The College Underground Programs Manager and Promoter
Favorite Free Time Activity: Playing Frisbee on the Quad OR playing golf on the Wooster course OR stargazing during a clear night on the roof of McGaw Chapel OR jumping in the piles of leaves throughout the Oak Grove during autumn.
Favorite Lowry Food: After three years you learn to get creative at Lowry, so I would have to say that my favorite food would either be pizza muffins or veggie quesadilla.
Advice for Incoming First-Year Students: My advice for incoming First-Years is to try new things and to try them ALL! The College of Wooster offers so many organizations, interest groups, IM sports, varsity sports, opportunities to travel and study abroad, and events on campus and beyond. Also, if the College of Wooster doesn’t have something you’re interested in you can CREATE IT!
Favorite Wooster Memory: I don’t know if I can actually pinpoint a favorite Wooster memory, but I can say that over the past three years I have collected quite a number that I will never forget. Memories of crazy times with friends I met during my First-Year term, the Wagner Six as we called ourselves, the first time filling the arch (and receiving a snow day) during my Second-Year term and my experience abroad during my Third-Year term have all shaped my experience here at Wooster and have made me realize that I am going to miss this place when I leave next year. Sometimes it’s the little things that you’ll remember for a lifetime!
