PRESHCO
Programa de Estudios Hispánicos en Córdoba
Additional Learning Opportunties
PRESHCO
students may utilize the facilities of the Mateo Inurria and Dionisio Ortiz
schools (as space and conventional student class enrollment size permit). A
listing of times (including the instructor’s name) in which different
media are taught and the number of PRESHCO students that can be accommodated
in workshops will be available in the PRESHCO office. As studio-art workshops
do not normally carry academic credit (unless special arrangement is made by
a student with his or her home institution prior to arrival in Spain), students
are able to participate in only those hours of instruction that fit within their
academic schedule. PRESHCO sponsors several excursions
each semester. Excursions are an important component of the program and are
considered part of the global academic undertaking for which students receive
home institution credit. The program also hosts tertulias for its students,
other Spanish-speaking students and colleagues, and sponsors a variety of lectures,
scholarly presentations, and conferences at the Facultad. PRESHCO's Experiential
and Service Learning Coordinator works with interested students to seek out
volunteer opportunities in the Córdoba area. The Program's Sports Coordinator
also assists interested in participating in team sports. Other cultural offerings
and learning opportunities include Sevillanas classes, cooking and
guitar classes, and compañeros de conversación, which
provides for an exchange by which Spanish students and American students are
able to practice conversational skills in each language. The program also sponsors
a choir of Spanish and U.S. singers that performs at various venues throughout
the province and PRESHCO students also enjoy privileges at the sports facilities
of the Universidad de Córdoba.
