Features of the PRESHCO Program
• Open to undergraduate students
from consortium institutions with the equivalent of two years of college-level
Spanish.
•Two curricular options: enrollment in PRESHCO courses taught by Spanish
faculty for program participants and direct-matriculation in conventional Spanish
university courses.
•Regular University of Córdoba student status including use of
libraries, computer services (including e-mail), sports facilities and other
student services.
• Optional
studio art classes in various media, including drawing, ceramics, sculpture,
bookbinding, computer-assisted graphic design, and photography (offered at the
Escuela de Arte Mateo Inurria in Córdoba).
• Instruction in traditional Andalusian dance (“Sevillanas”),
cooking, guitar, theatre, as well as participation in the PRESHCO choir.
• Support services for students wishing to volunteer in local non-governmental
organizations.
• Housing in either Spanish private residences or in small student dormitories,
according to individual preferences. All meals are included.
• Extensive excursions and cultural activities in both the fall and spring
semesters to enhance and enrich the students’ program of study.
• Conversation-partners program with students from the University of Córdoba.
• Personal fund for individually-selected activities (gym membership,
internet cafés, horseback riding, private music lessons, concerts, films,
etc.) and personal incidentals up to a predetermined amount.
• Limited student insurance offered by the University of Córdoba,
which offers partial coverage during the university's academic year. This coverage
does not replace the home-based medical insurance required for participation
in the program.
• Travel to and from Spain. Option of participating in a group flight
or in making individual arrangements (reimbursed up to a pre-determined amount).
• Program course textbooks and selected class materials provided.
• Students from other universities are invited to apply and will be admitted
based on merit and space availability.
