Regardless of what discipline you
enter and what career you choose, the Program in Writing at the College
of Wooster will provide you with knowledge and skills that
will ready you for countless professional challenges. In order to help you meet and conquer these challenges, the Program in Writing is founded under several assumptions:
- that language is central to thinking and learning in all disciplines,
- that writing is a complex intellectual process, and
- that students must learn to write the discourse of their area of academic concentration
Conducted under these assumptions, the Program is designed to help you improve your writing skills, but also your ability to construct cohesive arguments, effectively gather evidence, and analyze difficult concepts, skills that will ultimately allow you to become a better student and more mature scholar.
The Program in Writing has several components, each of which is designed to help you achieve these goals.
