Interview a Mental Health Worker

Find someone in the mental health field in Wooster or elsewhere to agree to a short interview.  These people can be found in the yellow pages under Counselors, Marriage Counseling, Family Counseling, Child & Individual Counselors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Service Organizations,  Although this could be done over  the telephone or via email, it would be more informative for you to visit your interviewee at the place where he or she works. If you visit the person, then you may do this in groups of 2 or 3 but no more than 3. Find out the following:
  1. What services do they provide?
  2. What kind of clientele do they serve?
  3. What are the most common  mental health problems that they deal with?
  4. What approaches do they use (e.g., Psychodynamic, Behavioral, Cognitive, Humanistic, Pharmacological, etc.) ?
  5. Why is the approach they use the best for their clientele?
  6. What education and license requirements are there to do their work?
  7. Do they believe their work could be more effective if there were changes in the mental health care delivery system that exists today?  How?
  8. Do they believe their work is based on science or art or, if both, how much of each?
  9. Would they recommend their work to aspiring students? Why or why not?
Each person in a group should submit his or her own paper, written individually.
