My area of expertise is in early childhood development, particularly the effects of sensory and motor experience on nervous system development. I also specialize in the study of how children use toys and the role of individual development in evolution.

My area of expertise is in memory, including computer stimulation of memory, and eyewitness memory and cognition. I received a post-doctoral grant from the Center for Research in Human Learning from the University of Minnesota and won the Esther L. Kinsey Ph.D. Dissertation Award from Indiana University.

My research examines cognitive and physiological processes associated with auditory perception, cognition, and action.
I am particularly interested in perception and action from an evolutionary perspective. My interests are quite diverse, and my investigations have overlapped significantly with evolutionary theory, animal cognition, music, development, emotion, memory, and gender studies. I use behavioral, psychophysical, physiological, and neuroimaging techniques.

An expert on a variety of anxiety disorders, Dr. Scott has done extensive research on the fear of flying and is considered a national source on the subject.

My research interests include neuroscience, rodent learning, sex differences in spatial ability, and any brain-behavior relationship. Using a variety of water-based mazes, as well as activity monitoring systems, I have assessed the learning of normal male mice, normal female mice, and female mice who carry a Y chromosome.

Trained as a clinical psychologist, my research interests lie in the
domains of international student cultural adjustment, nonverbal
communication, and their interaction (i.e., does "reading" emotion in
faces and voices make it easier to fit in when one moves to a new
country?). I also dabble in community psychology and have performed
research on ethnic minority mental health, academic
achievement/self-esteem, and emotion recognition.
