How to study for the test on Tuesday.

Here's some good advice on studying.

Read Chapters 1 - 5 in the text and assigned readings.
Study the notes from class.
Think about the material in terms of what it means for understanding individual differences.

Here are some sample questions that might look a lot like questions on the test.

An experimenter gives a subject a long list of math problems that are impossible to solve. The experimenter times how long the subject works on the problems before giving up in disgust. The minutes-and-seconds measure the experimenter has taken is what kind of data (b,s,i,l?) The experimenter calls this measure " a real, behavioral measure of persistence". What is right and what is wrong about this label?

If you wanted to know all about the personality of the person sitting next to you, what would you do?

What are the strengths and weaknesses of the different research methods used in personality studies?

Compare the different methods of personality test construction. What are the strengths and weaknesses of each?

What are the arguments of the situationist point of view? What are the counterarguments?
