The Precis

A Native Indian artifact By the second Friday of that term, you must submit two copies of a one page typed document called a precis (meaning a precise summary abstract) to the Deparment Chair. This precis will include:

  1. Thesis (a paragraph statement outlining the specific topic, goal, intent, and projected outcome of your research).
  2. Methodological Strategies (a paragraph detailing what approach or tools you will be using to arrive at your conclusions: i.e. surveys, fieldwork, sociological theory, theology, exegesis, comparative analysis, intellectual history).
  3. Possible Advisors (a list of faculty members you feel will be appropriate advisors to you in this process).

This precis, (due no later than Friday of week two), will be reviewed by the department, and the chair will inform you officially by e-mail or letter of your I.S. advisor. Again, we make every effort to honor your choice in this matter.
