The Third Annual Summer Undergraduate Research Showcase will be held in conjunction with Family Weekend on Saturday, October 27th from 8:30am-10:30am in Lowry Center. The goal of the symposium is to showcase students from all disciplines who engaged in creative and scholarly activities resulting in original work during Summer 2007. Research activities may have been supported by College funds, including the Sophomore Research program, individual faculty grants, and other institutional awards, or they may have been supported through off-campus experiences.
How can you participate in the Symposium?
Please complete the Abstract/Description
Submission form by October
1, 2007.
How will your work be presented during the event?
For our third year, all projects will be presented through poster presentations. Boards and pushpins will be available for use in Lowry Center. Your poster display is limited to 4 ft wide by 3 ft high. If you have special display requirements, please contact Sarah Sidor at ssidor@wooster.edu or ext: 2245 to discuss your particular needs.
Where can you get advice on your application and presentation?
For advice about writing an abstract or description go to this helpful site developed by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Writing Center. If you want us to review a draft of your abstract, you should complete the abstract/description form as soon as possible and indicate in the check box that you desire feedback on the draft being submitted.
Recommendations regarding Poster Presentations: Use Microsoft PowerPoint to create the poster. First, set the size of the poster (File >Page Setup) and then start working on the poster. If you do your poster first and then resize it, it may disturb the poster’s image and font size. If you want to have images on your poster, they should be in JPEG format. The images should be inserted into the poster by going to Insert>Picture>From File, rather then coping and pasting it from the original source. JPEG image format reduces the size of the poster, which helps in printing of the poster faster.
