Senior Research Symposium
Senior Research Symposium
A Celebration of Independent Study
On April 26, the College of Wooster will cancel classes to celebrate the accomplishments of the senior class. The college itself becomes a classroom as the senior class demonstrates the projects they have developed during the academic year. Students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members are encouraged to visit campus that day and listen to presentations, view art exhibits, ask questions about research posters, and explore the work of the senior class.
View the 2012 Senior Research Symposium program and senior abstracts, program for 2013 will be available a few weeks prior to the event.
Seniors
Celebrate and share the results of your I.S. experience with the greater college community on April 26. Showcase your research findings, long poem, theatrical production, musical composition, or visual art. You can choose to present a short formal paper, do a demonstration or reading, do a digital presentation, or create a poster. Apply before April 2 to participate.
First-Years, Sophomores, & Juniors
First-years, sophomores, and juniors can learn more about senior IS accomplishments and generate ideas for their own IS projects. This unique, all-day event allows students to extend the classroom across departments and the campus as they experience the impressive breadth of projects that constitute the College’s capstone program.
COW Community
For more than 50 years, every Wooster graduate has had the experience of creating something genuinely valuable through Independent Study (I.S.), our nationally recognized year-long project that allows seniors to immerse themselves in an idea they are passionate about. On April 26, the College celebrates the achievements of the class of 2013. We hope that you will join our seniors in this all-day event, featuring performances, presentations, research posters, and exhibits of senior work. Want to read more about a presentation?
The Senior Research Symposium is supported by the Henry J. Copeland Fund for Independent Study.
