Q: If I have a concern about a residence hall policy where should I go?

A: You may discuss residence hall policies with your Resident Director or you may speak with the Associate Dean/Director of Residence Life.

Q: What if roommates do not get along?

A: As a rule, we do not make room changes during the year unless efforts to work things through have been unsuccessful. During the first two weeks of each semester, no room changes are made, so that we can assess who is here and who is not. If, after the first two weeks, students are experiencing difficulty in establishing their roommate relationship, professional staff will mediate a discussion about the problems and possible solutions. We believe that a large part of our responsibility as educators is to help students learn to communicate effectively and to learn to appreciate people different from themselves.

Q: What is your policy on alcohol?

A: It is illegal in the state of Ohio for anyone under the age of 21 to possess or consume alcohol. It is illegal for students who are of age to sell or serve alcohol to minors. Our policy supports this law, but does allow students over 21 to consume alcohol in the privacy of their own rooms. In addition, Wooster upholds a city ordinance that prohibits drinking alcohol in public places.
