Q: Where is the Student Employment Office
located?
A: We are located in the west office space of the Service Building.
Located behind the Longbrake Wellness Center.

Q: What is Student Employment?
A:Student Employment is open year round to offer employment referral
and counseling services to College of Wooster students seeking a campus
job. Student employment also maintains the official employment record,
and all state and federal forms, for students that work at the College.

Q: Do I qualify for a campus job?
A: Only students that are enrolled in 3 or more accredited classes
per semester are eligible for campus employment. If you take a leave
of absence, withdraw, or if you are dismissed for academic or disciplinary
reasons, you will no longer be eligible to work in a student job.

Q: How do I apply for a campus job?
A: A student must first complete the Application for Student
Employment as well as the Employment Referral Form, (the application
and referral form are available in the Student Employment Office.)

Q: What additional paperwork do I need to
complete before starting work?
A: All employees of the College are required to complete state
and federal paperwork and information for Direct Deposit on or before
the first day of work. This includes the following:
- Federal Employee Withholding Allowance Certificate W-4.
- State of Ohio Employee Withholding Exemption Certificate or Employee’s
Statement of Residency in a Reciprocity State.

Immigration and Naturalization Employment Eligibility Verification I-9
Form. The employee will need to present the proper identification
in order to complete this form. The most commonly used forms of
identification used by students are:
- Passport
- Photo ID and original social security card

Photo ID and original or certified copy of the birth certificate
Direct Deposit; The College requires all employees to have their
wages deposited into a checking or savings account. The student
must present the name of the bank, account number and 9-digit routing
number for the bank. (A voided check or a deposit slip should
be submitted with this form.)

Q: What kind of documentation do I need to
present as an International Student?
A: International students will need to complete all applicable
state and federal forms and present the following documents:
- Passport
- Visa
- I-94
- I-20
- Original Social Security Card or receipt for Social Security
Card indicating that a card has been requested

Q: What kind of campus job is available?
A: Approximately 90 different academic, administrative and support
service departments employ students in a variety of jobs. A student
also has the opportunity to pursue employment with off campus employers
which can give a wider range of jobs and work hours. An international
student should know their visa status and its limitations before trying
to work off campus. (Questions regarding off campus employment
should be directed to the International Student Affairs Office.)

Q: Who hires me for a campus job?
A: The department with the job opening will hire the student
that can best perform the work of the department. The department will
evaluate your job skills, your ability to perform assigned work and
your availability for work. (Student Employment will assist
you with your job search but we do not hire for individual departments.)

Q: How many hours per week can I work?
A:Students can work up to 20 hours per week during the academic
year and up to 40 hours per week during a break period.

Q: How do I get paid?
A: As a student employee you will be paid bi-weekly (every
two weeks).

Q: Can I work during College
Breaks?
A: It is possible to work during College breaks however work
is not guaranteed. The workload in many departments slows over break
periods, thus the number of available jobs can be limited. It is
advisable to pursue these opportunities well in advance of the break
period. Only current students registered for 3 or more accredited
courses for the fall semester or recent graduates are eligible for
summer employment.

Q: What are Federal Work-Study
Funds and who qualifies?
A: The Federal Work-Study Program is designed to provide
a student with the opportunity to earn some of the money necessary
to meet educational expenses (these funds are awarded through
the student’s financial aid package). Students with
a federal work-study allocation will have priority in the application
and referral process for several weeks at the start of the Fall Semester. (Questions
regarding financial aid awards should be directed to the Financial
Aid Office.)

Q: What are Campus Employment Funds and who
qualifies?
A: The College established this program for students (generally
international students) who have demonstrated a financial
need but are unable to meet the federal eligibility requirements
for Federal Work-Study. Students with a Campus Job allocation will
have priority in the application and referral process for several
weeks at the start of the Fall Semester. (Questions regarding
financial aid awards should be directed to the Financial Aid Office.)

Q: Can I apply for jobs if I don't have
work-study funds?
A: All students can take advantage of the application
and referral process once the established time period has ended.
