Welcome to Student Employment

Many students have found that working on campus can be a meaningful and
valuable part of their educational experience. While the College
does not place, assign or guarantee students a job, the staff
of Student Employment will guide and help students with their search for
campus employment.
-
To be eligible for campus employment a student must be enrolled in
3 or more accredited classes during the semester.
-
A student must complete the Application for Employment and the Employment
Referral Form to apply for a campus job.
-
The Application for Employment will be sent to the department that
has the job opening. The department will interview and hire the
student that can best perform the work of the department.
-
Before a student can start work all state
and federal paperwork must be completed on or before the first day
of work. Required paperwork includes State and Federal tax forms
as well as the Employment Eligibility Form I-9. A student must
present the appropriate forms of identification when completing the
Form I-9.
-
A student can work up to 20 hours per week.
-
Student jobs are hourly and will be paid at the state or federal
minimum wage, whichever is higher.
-
Mandatory direct deposit to a savings or checking account is required
of all College of Wooster employees. The student employee must
provide the account number and the 9-digit ABA/routing number for the
bank.
-
If a student has work-study funds (Federal Work-Study or Campus
Employment), they will have priority in the application and
referral process for several weeks at the start of the Fall
Semester.
-
When requested, the Student Employment Office will list jobs for
off campus employers.
-
The employment process can be very competitive so
if you do not get a job the first time you try we encourage you
to be patient, flexible and persistent.
