Campus Rabbi Joan Friedman came to Wooster in 2004 after stints as a congregational rabbi, a campus chaplain, and a graduate student. From a Conservative background, she was ordained a Reform rabbi in 1980 and considers herself a postdenominational Jew. She received her doctorate in Jewish history from Columbia University in 2003. She advises Hillel and guides OICM's Interfaith Scholars and also serves as Assistant Professor of History and Religious Studies. Rabbi Joan loves (in no particular order) the Talmud, the Red Sox, Yiddish, and the Marx Brothers. She lives in Akron with her partner Nancy; they have two grown daughters.
