Assistant Chaplain since 2011 and a College of Wooster graduate, Emily returned to Wooster after studying and working at Pendle Hill, a Quaker living community, and New Jerusalem Now, an addiction recovery community in Philadelphia. As a Religious Studies major, Emily’s Independent Study was titled “From Generation to Generation: Faith Narratives as a Source of Wisdom,” and explored theology, young adult faith development, and intergenerational relationships, all of which continue to occupy her life as Assistant Chaplain. She is currently pursuing graduate work at Methodist Theological School in Ohio. About the ministry she says, "The people and programs of OICM had an immense impact on my life at a time of questioning, discovering, and growing in faith. I hope that OICM will continue to foster the safe space needed to ask honest questions, to engage across differences, to be ourselves, to commit to spiritual life, and to use one's gifts and resources for good in the world."
On campus, Emily coordinates the Worthy Questions program, advises the Wooster Volunteer Network and Poverty Outreach House, and manages the Office of Interfaith Campus Ministries in Overholt House. She has discovered that her hometown of Wooster, Ohio is a wonderful place to live, and loves finding and sharing new adventures both near and far.
