Alpha Beta Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta
Our purpose is to pursue our interests in history and enrich historical and intellectual debate by organizing and sponsoring fun, entertaining, and educational activities on campus. In our efforts to accomplish our goals, we shall abide by the Code of Social Responsibility as stated in the Scot's Key.
Membership to Phi Alpha Theta is open to all current students, regardless of their chosen major, who have achieved the following: a 3.0 accumulative grade point average, completion of 4-history courses, one of these being 200 level or above, and a 3.1 grade point average in these history courses. Dropping below the required GPA is not grounds for removal.
There is a one time $40 membership fee. This fee includes a membership certificate and four issues of our journal, The Historian. Membership in Phi Alpha Theta is a lifetime membership. Members who wish to continue supporting the honor society may do so my subscribing to The Historian and/or to our newsletters. Membership shall be open to any member of the College community regardless of age, race, sex, creed, national origin, handicap, sexual orientation, political affiliation, economic status, or the ability to pay dues providing the individual expresses genuine interest.
Membership is granted to those who accept an invitation to induction. The induction ceremony is held sometime during the final weeks of the academic year.
