Instructions for Printing a Poster

This document explains how to print a poster on the poster printer from a Windows machine located in Taylor 205.

Introduction

This document explains how to print a poster on the poster printer from a Windows machine located in Taylor 205. The poster printer is available for Students, Faculty and Staff to print Academic related posters only.

Instruction for Printing a Poster
  1. First open your Power Point poster.
  2. In PowerPoint go to File and choose Page Setup
  3. Enter the required departmental poster size:
    • Chemistry: 36" H x 48" W
    • Geology: 36" H x 48" W
    • Biology: 36" H x 48" W
    • Physics: 36" H x 60" W (http://www.wooster.edu/physics/)
    • Communications: 22"H x 28" W
      (Paper Size should be 36"H x 36"W — your image will be smaller than the overall poster printed. Refer to step 9.)
  4. Change the Orientation to Landscape.
  5. When all the settings are correct click OK. See the following example:

  7. If you are a STAFF or FACULTY member you must change the default printer to be the Taylor Poster Printer-Staff. To do this: navigate to the start button then click Printers and Faxes. Right click on the Taylor Poster Printer-Staff printer and select set as default if it is not already the default printer.

    If you are a STUDENT you must change the default printer to be the Taylor Poster Printer-Student. To do this: navigate to the start button then click Printers and Faxes. Right click on the Taylor Poster Printer-Student printer and select set as default if it is not already the default printer.
  8. Then go to File and choose Print.

  10. Click Properties.
  11. Select from Print Task Quick Sets the appropriate departmental poster size. Communications students will need to choose the 36" x 36" Quick Set. See the following example:

  13. When all the settings are correct click OK.
  14. Click OK on the Print window
  15. Enter Your Novell username and password in the Pharos popup:

  17. Click PRINT.
  18. ATTENTION STUDENTS:
    Go to the pharos print station by the helpdesk and swipe your student ID card. Your account will be charged $4.80 per linear ft. Then your job will be released to the poster printer.
  19. FACULTY & STAFF ONLY:
    Choose a cost center on the second pharos pop up window. Your account will be charged $4.80 per linear ft. Then your job will be released to the poster printer.
