Introduction

Most laptops today come with the ability to access the network without plugging in to a network jack. This kind of network is called “wireless”. To connect to a wireless network you must have a wireless-capable device. This document explains how to connect to the wireless network with Windows XP.

Setting up for the first time

NOTE: Make sure you are connected to the Wooster network via an Ethernet cable. You MUST use Internet Explorer to complete the wireless setup.

ALSO: If there is a physical switch to turn on your wireless card, make sure it is on.

  • Launch Internet Explorer and go to: https://adserver.wooster.edu/certsrv
  • You will be prompted to log in. Use your email username and password.
  • You should see a page just like the one below. You will need to click on “Request a certificate”
  • The next page will appear and you need to click “User Certificate”
  • The next screen will prompt you to create the certificate. Click the “Submit” button to do so. Internet Explorer will bring up a message about installing the certificate – click yes.
  • After your certificate has been generated, you will see this screen. Click “Install this certificate” and then click yes when asked if you would like to install the certificate.
  • Now you should be ready to connect to ScotZone.
