This is the movie assignment from Professor Havholm's First-year Seminar 2003. This announcement was followed by a brainstorming session where Professor Havholm talked with each group about ideas and practical matters.
Big Movie Assignment
- Each team will present a completed 8–10 min. video which causes emotions in its audience, preferably intense ones. The movies will be shown during our last class.
- Also due at the beginning of that class will be a 4–6 page essay predicting the emotions the audience will feel and explaining (using the final version of our theory of emotion) why those predictions are good ones.
- As your producer, I will need to sign off on a treatment (2-page summary) of each film. These are due to me on 7 October and should reflect the work and complete agreement of the team. This means you will need to begin today to work out what you'll do and to plan how you'll get the treatment done by the due date. Please be careful to plan a film that you can actually achieve.
- You may use actors from outside the class, but all shooting and editing must be done by members of the team. The more you work together, the better your product will be.
