Installing Endnote X for Windows

Introduction

This document explains how to install Endnote X on a Windows machine. Endnote X is a site license available for Students, Faculty and Staff. Endnote X is currently Keyserved.

Downloading the KeyServer Client
  1. If you have not already installed the latest KeyServer Client, navigate to http://www.wooster.edu/technology/help/software/ and choose the appropriate KeyServer Client for your version of Windows. (IF you have a LAPTOP, you need to download the KeyServer Client for laptops).
  2. When you click on the type of system you have, you will be prompted to enter your user name and password.
  3. Once you enter your information, you will be asked what you want to do with the file. Choose save and save the file to the desktop. It should look something like this:

Installing the Keyserver Client
  1. Double Click on the icon. It will launch the KeyServer Client installer.
  2. Please click "Next" through the next two screens and then "Install." Please wait while it installs and then click "Finish."
  3. Once you have finished installing the software you will need to reboot your computer. You can click "Yes" and restart your computer immediately, or you may click "No," save what you are working on and restart later.
Installing Endnote X
  1. Go to http://www.wooster.edu/technology/resources/software/ to download the Endnote X installer.
  2. Open the file you have downloaded, it should be on the desktop, and run the ENX.MSI installer by double clicking on it.
  3. Accept the default settings and click next for the following three screens.
  4. Accept the user license agreement and click next. Click next for the following three screens.
  5. Click ok when you receive the Keyserver pop up box.
  6. Click finish.
  7. Endnote X should now be successfully installed.
  8. You may now delete all of the files that you have downloaded to your desktop.
