Follow these instructions to install Mathematica 6 for Macintosh and Windows for use on The College of Wooster campus.

The College of Wooster has a license that allows students to install and use Mathematica 6 on their personal computers while at the College of Wooster, or while connected to the College over VPN. Follow these instructions to install the Mathematica software.

1. Open a web browser window. Direct it to the website: http://www.wooster.edu/technology/resources/software/
2. Under the title: "College-licensed software", click on your operating system listed to the right of "Mathematica 6"
3. Enter your Novell username and password when prompted.
4. Save the file to your hard disk.

1. After downloading you should have a file called Mathematica6-student.dmg.zip on your hard drive.
2. Double-click the file to unzip it and then OS X should automatically uncompress and mount the disk image Mathematica6-student.dmg.
3. You should now have a window like this. If not, double-click the Mathematica6-student.dmg file.


4. Follow the directions and drag the icon to a folder on your computer (we recommend your Applications folder).
5. Once it has finished copying double-click the Mathematica 6 icon. You will be prompted for license information.
6. Choose Network License and enter license.wooster.edu for the license manager as shown below.


7. Mathematica should launch and you can begin working. If you receive an error indicating that Mathematica was unable to contact the license server, repeat steps 5 and 6.

1. After downloading you should have a file called Mathematica6_stu.exe on your hard drive. Double-click on this file to begin the installation. This may take up to 5 minutes.
2. Once the installer has finished, click on your "Start" menu, then "All Programs," then "Wolfram Mathematica," then finally "Mathematica 6 for Students."
3. When you see the following window, click the "Enter Password" button.


4. Next, you should see the following window, at which point you should choose "Network License" and enter license.wooster.edu for the Mathematica license manager server.


5. Installation of the student version of Mathematica 6 is now complete.

1. You may now delete all of the files that you have downloaded to your desktop.
