Ujamaa is a Swahili word, which means corporation (unity). As the name suggests, the African students awareness club is a society, which has the aim of bringing together African Students in a community that is foreign to them. It also serves as a place where African students can share their individual unique cultures amongst themselves and other College Students.

The club holds educational and recreational meetings during the semester with activities including Africa Jeopardy, Student led discussions, and dance sessions. We also organize a food festival in the fall.

Every year, the club organizes Africa Week. This celebration consists of lectures, a fashion show, craft shows, jewelry display and a dinner. At this time, African students display their culture to the College and the Wooster Community.

Ujamaa is open to all students on campus who are interested in learning and taking part in the diverse culture and traditions of Africa.
