Wooster Christian Fellowship...it's not just for Christians anymore. That's right, you read that correctly. WCF is for anyone interested in finding out more about Jesus, no matter what you may think of him already. Maybe you think he's a wise teacher, but not the Son of God. Maybe you think he's an opiate for the masses. Maybe you think he's crazy. Maybe you think he doesn't exist. Or, maybe you've given your life to him. In any case, it can't hurt to find out more. Heck, if you've given your life over to the guy, you'll certainly want to be keeping tabs on that. Even if you haven't, you're still living for something, whether it's the next weekend, your girl/boyfriend, yourself, or something else, and it's not a bad idea to see if Jesus wouldn't be a better deal. If we're still searching, we're probably still missing something in our lives. Honestly, wrestling with issues of faith isn't always easy and fun, and we don't want to gloss over that. Sure, come to a WCF event and you'll find plenty of opportunity to meet people, and we hope you'll have a good time. Many will vouch, a lot of friendships have grown out of that, and community is a big part of our fellowship. There are some major perks to accepting Jesus, too, if that's what you decide you want to do or have already done, like eternal life and knowing God's peace and love. Still when you think you've got it all figured out, being a Christian isn't always "perfect" either, because we're still human and still living in this messed-up world. But Christian community helps here, too, with friends to support you and pray for you as you go through whatever you are going through. Friendship, hanging out, and having fun are important. But we're also serious about helping you look for answers and/or grow in your walk with Jesus. As a chapter of InterVarsity, we think Jesus has a really good thing going on, and we want to offer you the opporutnity to experience and talk about it, no matter the conclusions you reach or have reached. In short,
you won't find any "Christians-only" signs at WCF, and you won't
find any perfect Christians either. At any given WCF event,
you'll find people you can ask questions and people who are asking questions.
So, happen into a small group Bible study.
Show up and sit in the back of Oasis some Thursday
night. Make a time to meet with someone. Check out a local
church service. Go on an Urban Plunge over Spring Break, or one of
the conferences during the school year. Just come and listen. Speak up
if you have something to say. Ask a question if you want. You really can't
lose, and you'll meet some new people in any case, so here's your chance,
all semester long.
As a chapter of the national organization InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF), WCF is an interdenominational group of students and faculty that follow the same purpose, core commitments, and doctrinal basis (beliefs) as IVCF. Check those out here.
