In
addition to bringing you some of the latest and best independent
and unusual music, WCWS also provides the Wooster community with
several unique types of programming.
WCWS
Daily News
WCWS
provides listeners with accurate news three times a day during
the week (10 AM, 2 PM and 5 PM) and at 2 PM on Saturdays. The
latest international, national, and state news as well as the
weather is read by two or three WCWS Workshop Students during
another DJ's show to allow them to become familiar with speaking
on the air.
Texaco-Metropolitan
Opera
On
Saturday afternoons in the winter and spring, WCWS broadcasts
the Metropolitan Opera by satellite from New York City. During
the off-season, the air time is occupied by the DJ assigned to
the additional time slot. You can find the schedule for
the current year here.
The 2003 - 2004 Season will conclude May 8, 2004.
College
of Wooster Sports
WCWS
broadcasts Scot football and basketball home games by remote
connections. However, our RealAudio stream is pre-empted during
football, basketball, and baseball games as the College has contracts
with another radio station to broadcast them via the stream.
In addition, the Sports Director hosts a weekly sports show recapping
the highlights from previous events in the week. Click
here for the Scots Sports Page.
The
Wooster Forum Series
Every
fall, the College of Wooster has a series of lectures and performances
known collectively as the Wooster Forum. Well-known authors,
researchers, and ensembles present unique perspectives to the
campus. For this reason, many professors of the various First
Year Seminars require Forum attendance. WCWS is proud to provide
the community and the world with the ability to listen to the
Wooster Forum.
Public
Affairs Programming
WCWS
broadcasts one weekly general public-affairs program during the
week focusing on the events, news, and issues at the Wooster
Campus and surrounding community.
