Founded in 1998, the Wooster Scottish Arts Society began in order to promote and teach the Scottish Arts and culture at the College of Wooster and within the Wooster community. Membership includes the College of Wooster Pipe Band, Drum Corps, and Highland Dancers as well as other students and faculty.

We are best known for our performances with the Scot Marching Band during the football season. We also perform at other college events including First Year Orientation, Parents Weekend, Commencement ceremonies, and Alumni Weekend.

This year we are also hosting a variety of other events at the college. Our biggest event occurs in February, when we hold a Robert Burns Night Celebration. This is a night in tribute to one of Scotland's most popular Poets, Robert Burns, whose famous poems include the popular New Years song Aud Lang Syn, Address to a haggis and To a mouse. We celebrate the night with ceremonial speeches and toasts, poetry readings, traditional Scottish foods including haggis and plenty of piping and dancing. Additionally this year we will be promoting the United States National Tartan Day on April 6th, a national holiday for Americans of Scottish descent or those wishing to show their support, by proudly wearing their traditional dress and tartans. As always all of our events are open to students, faculty, and the community of Wooster. Also throughout the year, both members of the Highland Dancers and the Pipe Band instruct and tutor other members of the college community.

The Wooster Scottish Arts Society would like to thank you for showing your interest in the Scottish Arts here at the college and in the Wooster Community. We will be more than willing to answer any questions you might have. If you have a question feel free to leave us a comment.
