Coca-Cola Commercial - May 1997

Wooster's bagpipers and drummers always grab attention when they appear with the Scot Marching Band. The sound is distinctive, and the tradition is memorable. Now that tradition is known to a worldwide audience since the Wooster pipers and drummers are featured in a television advertisement for Coca-Cola.

In October 1996, the NBC Today show came to Wooster to film a segment about the pipers. Once the Today show segment aired, it caught the attention and fueled the imagination of a member of the creative team working on the 1997 "Always Coca-Cola" campaign.

One thing led to another, and a Hollywood film crew descended on the campus January 1997 to spend a week filming the pipers and drummers in a variety of locations and activities, including leading the swim team. The Result was a 30-second spot which began airing throughout the country and the world in May 1997.
