The College of Wooster Pipe Band has two different performance seasons: Marching and Symphonic.
During the marching season, the repertoire is fairly limited in order to expose newer pipers and drummers to tunes they would more than likely experience in a massed bands situation. The drummers start off with the PPBSO settings of the standard marches, eventually expanding to written scores as their unison progresses throughout the season3
During the symphonic season, the College's band is pared down to the core group of pipers and drummers through audition in the late fall. The symphonic tour season is marked by far more challenging scores and playing performance medleys at roughly a Grade 3 level. The highlight of this season is a week-long tour of some portion of the US, playing almost every night during the first week of spring break, and eventually recording the sets for release.
