Amanda was born and raised in rural Northwest Ohio and is a proud Latinx, first-generation/low-income college graduate. Her academic research and interest centers around the relationship between power/privilege and marginalized identities. Holding a Masters in Education, Amanda is deeply invested in accessible and inclusive education for all.
Prior to joining the College of Wooster, Amanda served as the Assistant Director for Outreach and Education in the Office of Student Financial Aid at the University of Akron. In this role she was instrumental in developing office marketing publications in English and Spanish, provided informative presentations on the financial aid process and financial literacy to internal and external stakeholders, and served as a member of the Help-A-Zip first response team in which she assisted students, faculty, and staff to connect students in financial distress with financial aid or institutional-related resources.
Deeply committed to collaborative approaches to education and student learning/advocacy, Amanda is extremely excited to be joining the Wooster family and hopes to foster community and fellowship with students, faculty, and staff in the coming years to create a truly safe space for all.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys watching reruns of The Office and practicing salsa with her spouse in the greater Cleveland-Akron area.
