  • B.A. Religion; Integrated Marketing Communications, Simpson College (Iowa)

Rev. Erin Guzmán is the Henry J. Copeland Interfaith Chaplain and Director of Religious & Spiritual Life, serving the many religious, secular, and spiritual communities/identities in the College of Wooster community. Erin holds leadership roles at Wooster as an Advisory Board Member for the Academy of Religion lecture series, a co-liaison of the Activism & Social Change Pathway certificate program, and the Pre-Ministry Program, which mentors and prepares students for religions vocations following graduation. She obtained a Master of Divinity (M.Div) degree from Vanderbilt University Divinity School, with educational concentrations in pastoral care related to grief-transitions and theological ethics connected to race, gender, sexuality, disability, and other aspects of embodiment. Erin also has backgrounds in marketing communications and graphic design, group facilitation and event planning, and faith-based community organizing. She is currently completing certifications as a Spiritual Literacy and Multi-faith Educator and will also complete training as a mindfulness coach next year.

Erin moved to Wooster, Ohio in the Fall of 2017 and served as the Director of Student Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church—the Congregation-in-Residence at the College of Wooster. While at Westminster, she filled in critical gaps of pastoral and worship leadership during the congregation’s search for a new minister, and at the same time led programs/trips with college students on campus. After two years at WPC, she was invited to serve as the Interim Chaplain and Director of RSL, and shortly after formally began the ordination process in the Muskingum Valley Presbytery. In July 2021, Erin accepted the full offer to be Wooster’s next Chaplain and was ordained as a Minister of Word & Sacrament/Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) this past April.

Outside of college chaplaincy, Erin enjoys deep conversations with friends (preferably on a rooftop/patio/porch), traveling anywhere that has a beach, spending time in her inflatable kayak, watching stand-up comedy, eating Thai food, and searching for the best vanilla latté. Erin also has an amazing rescue dog named Toffee, who has her own Instagram account (@rev.toffeedog) and a growing Wooster student fan-base.
