National Student Speech Language Hearing Association’s Purpose

The purpose of this organization is to provide students who are interested in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders with pre-professional skills and opportunities outside of the classroom. This organization also aims to educate the greater Wooster community about communication impairments that may affect their personal or professional lives. Students are not expected to be pursuing a major in CSD to participate in the organization.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals

1) Our organization will work to collaborate with other organizations at least once per semester to host a variety of events that will help people outside of the CSD major learn about what our club does and how they can get involved.

2) Our organization will increase our social media presence to try and gain more exposure on campus and increase membership by posting at least once before and after each event.

3) Our organization will find more ways to host at least one event per semester that benefits the local community by connecting with local community partners including schools, senior living organizations, and more to increase our positive impact in the community.

Our Events

Some of our annual events include a movie screening, game night, American Sign Language classes, guest alumni speakers, providing hearing screenings for the community, and attending different walks in support of people with communication impairments. We hope to continue partnering with local organizations to gain pre-professional experience outside of the classroom and to help our local community.
