College Mourns the Passing of Julia Fishelson

Trustee emerita was 88

WOOSTER, Ohio, Sept. 13, 2013 – The College of Wooster mourns the passing of Trustee Emerita Julia Fishelson, who served on the college’s board from 1989 to 1998, and whose civic and philanthropic service to the City of Wooster spanned six decades. She was 88.

Fishelson was born in Wooster, Ohio, in 1924 and remained devoted to her hometown throughout her life. She and her family helped establish the Ida Sue School and Nick Amster Sheltered Workshop, and the Wayne Center for the Arts. In addition to her service on the college’s board of trustees, she was a member of the Women’s Advisory Board and the Wayne County Leadership Group. 

The Fishelson family will receive friends in McGaw Chapel, 340 E. University St., on The College of Wooster campus, on Sunday, Sept. 15, from noon to 2 p.m., with a service to follow immediately, beginning at two.
