The College of Wooster’s Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Jeffrey Lindberg, professor of music, will perform Friday, Nov. 6, 7:30 p.m. at Freedlander Theatre in Wishart Hall on campus. Also performing are jazz combos, coached by Lindberg and Greg Slawson, jazz piano instructor at the College.

Featured guest soloist is tenor saxophonist Houston Person, known for his mastery of styles ranging from disco, gospel, pop, and R&B, to his trademark soulful hard bop. His years as producer and house tenor for HighNote Records and tours with the late Etta Jones, established Person as a musician who is relaxed, accessible, and eclectic.  Friday’s program includes Count Basie’s “Blue and Sentimental,” Bobby Hebb’s “Sunny,” and Neal Hefti’s “Two for the Blues,” and “Wade in the Water.”

Tickets are $10 and available at Buehler’s Milltown and Towne Market, Lowry Center Wilson Bookstore, and The Wooster Book Company. Students will be admitted free of charge.
