Wooster Jazz Ensembles present “Holiday Jazz and More” Dec. 2

The College of Wooster’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combos, under the direction of Jeffrey Lindberg, professor of music, and Greg Slawson, jazz piano instructor, will perform at 8:15 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2 in Freedlander Theatre (329 E. University St.).

Featured guest soloist is saxophonist Scott Burns, a sought after member of the Chicago jazz scene, where he has performed with local greats. Well known for his warmth and energy, he has also appeared with jazz and blues festivals nationally and internationally.

Friday’s program features selections from Duke Ellington’s Jazz Nutcracker Suite, including “Peanut Brittle Brigade,” “Sugar Rum Cherry,” and “Toot Toot Tootie Toot.”

“Away in a Manger” will feature Wooster senior pianist Alex Chabraja; senior vocalist Thea Kwan will be featured in “This Can’t Be Love,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” and “Cheek to Cheek.”

Tickets are $10 and are available at Buehler’s Milltown and Towne Market, Lowry Center Wilson Bookstore, and The Wooster Book Company. Students will be admitted free of charge.
