Wooster Chorus and Wooster Singers to Perform April 22

Free concert to be held in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center

WOOSTER – The Wooster Chorus and Wooster Singers, under the direction of Lisa Wong, will present a concert on Saturday, April 22, at The College of Wooster. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.) beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will highlight the music of living American composers, and also eclectic music of Sweden, Latvia, Korea, and South Africa.

Founded in 1964, the Wooster Chorus consists of students representing all academic areas within the College’s liberal arts program. Three-time finalists for the American Prize in Choral Performance, the Chorus has been praised for its beautiful sound, high level of artistry, creative programming, and engaging performances. The Chorus collaborates annually with The Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, and has recently premiered works by Eric Whitacre and Jake Runestad.

Wooster Singers is a mixed-voice choral ensemble open to any student. No audition is required although most students in the group have previous singing experience.  Wooster Singers performs a variety of music on and off campus throughout the academic year and has combined in previous years with the Wooster Symphony Orchestra and the Wayne County Choral Union.
