WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster’s Jazz Ensemble with members of the Wooster Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jeffrey Lindberg, will perform with Phil Giffin, composer, and Mollie Greenspan, vocalist, on Friday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m., in Freedlander Theatre (329 E. University St.).

The concert will feature Giffin and Greenspan sharing their musical vision alongside 17 musicians in the jazz ensemble, plus members of the symphony orchestra. Acclaimed vocalists Karen Blake and Hilary James-DiSimone will accompany Greenspan in background vocals.

Giffin, a Wooster native now based in Los Angeles, is an award-winning TV and film composer, songwriter, and producer. He was introduced to Greenspan through his daughter and they have been collaborating over the past two and one half years, which has resulted in "15 masterpieces," according to Giffin. Some of their songs are reminiscent of great jazz standards and others have a modern upbeat feel. Their debut album be released later this year.

The concert is sponsored by the College’s cultural affairs committee and dean of students office, the Black Squirrel Inn, and the Wooster Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are $10 and are available at Buehler’s Milltown and Towne Market, Lowry Center Wilson Bookstore, and The Wooster Book Company. Students will be admitted free of charge. For more information contact Jeff Lindberg at 330-263-2047 or jlindberg@wooster.edu.
