Melissa Schultz Memorial 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk To Be Held April 29

Second annual event to honor legacy of College of Wooster chemistry professor

WOOSTER, Ohio — The second annual Melissa Schultz Memorial 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk will take place Saturday, April 29 at The College of Wooster. The event, held in honor of her legacy as an accomplished scientist and devoted conservationist, will start at 9 a.m. on University Street by Severence Hall (944 College Mall). There is no registration required and it is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Melissa Schultz Nature Preserve.

Schultz, who was killed in an automobile accident two years ago, was in her ninth year as an associate professor of chemistry and environmental studies at Wooster when the accident occurred.

The Melissa Schultz Nature Preserve consists of more than five acres of woods and meadow immediately adjacent to the Montessori School with a ravine and creek that feed into Little Apple Creek. The property is owned by The College of Wooster.
