Working on campus can be a meaningful and valuable part of your educational experience. You can gain or enhance your job skills as well as develop communication, organizational, research, and problem-solving skill – all of which are important for career development.
By law, F-1 visa holders may not work more than 20 hours per week while school is in session.
Please note that The College does not guarantee jobs for students! However, in accordance with College policy, students with a “federal work-study” or “campus employment” (international students) financial aid allocation have priority in the application and referral process for 3 weeks at the start of the fall semester.
Once these 3 weeks have passed, the employment process will open for all students.
Unlike scholarships and grants, federal work-study or campus employment allocations do not reduce the amount that students must pay the College for tuition, room and board. Most students will use the money earned for personal expenses.
The pay rate for student jobs is $8.70 per hour (Ohio minimum wage). To earn an amount of $2,000 per school year requires working approximately 8-10 hours per week.
Students are paid on a biweekly basis on Friday, and funds are directly deposited by the Payroll Office into their local bank accounts. If requested, earnings can be applied directly to a student’s college tuition balance.
