English Language Learning (ELL)

ELL students and instructure in APEX

Are you a student who is adapting to using English in an academic setting? The Learning Center's ELL Coordinator is available for individual tutoring and consultation appointments to improve your English writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills. Set up an appointment online.

If you are interested in getting involved with ELLs on campus fill out our questionnaire.

Do you need help with an assignment during the evenings or on weekends? Unsure of how to do your assignment, or that you've done it well? You can also stop by the ELL Peer Tutor hours for extra comprehension and revision assistance from a trained upperclass student. Spring 2016 hours are Mondays through Thursdays 6-8pm and Saturdays and Sundays 4-6pm. Contact Sally Kendrick '16 for more information.

We also offer ELL Writing Studio in the fall and spring semesters, a workshop-style course that teaches you the skills you need to write your academic papers. To talk about if this course is right for you, contact Carla Reyes.

Are you looking for more English language learning opportunities? Mark your calendars for our monthly skills workshops, which teach you specific strategies you can immediately use in your everyday English activities. Check the Events & Workshops calendar for this month's ELL events.

Summer Language Preparation

If you're not sure about your English language readiness, consider participating in our August English Engagement Seminar, where you can review and practice English writing, reading, grammar, speaking, and listening skills. If you'll be unavailable in August, ask about the option of completing an independent online review of Academic English skills.
